Getting Up At Night While We Are Sleeping And Eating!
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Nathan is getting up in the middle of the night while everyone is sleeping and eating! We have spoke with him about this and seems to understand at that the time we talk to him but he has continuing to do it. We have put his bed in our room but it still hasn't helped because let's face it at some time we do have to fall asleep. He eats a variety of heathy foods all day long. He also gets a few snack foods during the day. He eats an ample amount before he goes to sleep. Even when we are not in… read more

Nathan only takes a one a day children vitamin. His appetite is very large in deed! Sometimes I think he is just going though a growth spurt like his brother did at his age. We put everything eatable in the pantry last night and told him that if he is hungry in the middle of the night to wake me up. He was very responsive to that. He did not wake me last night and did not get up. I just asked him why he didn't wake me last night and he said..." Because I love you with all my heart!" He is such a charmer! Lol. We are going to get the pantry and frige baby locks this weekend. We did talk about putting his bed back in his room but decided against it until the locks are installed and he realizes that he can't get in them on his own. I don't want to frustrate him in the middle of the night and he have a melt down when we are not awake. I am going to watch his sugar intake as I always do but am also going to watch his simply carbs also! He eats a large variety of veggies but a great fan of fruit. I continue to introduce fruit to him daily but some of them the texture is just too much for him to handle and he gags. That doesn't stop me from trying again. I have learned he is just like a baby in that respect. He has learned to eat applesauce, peaches and grapes. He even likes dried prunes! I do have to watch how much fruit he does eat beaches he has very very healthy bowls! Lol
What do you think about a bed tent? A safe secure place he can call his own. The only negative on the bed tent is that I won't be able to see if he sneaks food in....lol! On the other hand if he feels he is safe and secure the whole night thru he may not get up. Oh girl....raising our lil guy has truly been a challenge. I often think if I was younger I would have more energy for him...I'm just coming off of shoulder and biceps surgery. Then again if I was younger I would not know what I know now.
I have been reading and researching ALOT on homeschooling an Aspergers child. There is so much info out there but no true road map. Most info just keeps saying that it is a challenge but a rewarding experience.
With that said I signed him up on Time4Learning last night .... Second grade reading/vocabulary and first grade math. I also enrolled in HSDLA I think that is correct I will check it out and correct myself on my next post. Have you homeschooled? I homeschooled both of them when we first got them almost four years ago. Neither could speak and Nathan was not potty trained yet.
I feel I am not alone anymore with your posts. You give me a sounding board and HOPE!
Thank you for being my angel.
Much love and respect!

Hi is Nathan taking vitamins and supplements? My Noah takes them and has a very big appetite now so I bought those baby locks for the fridge, frizzer and cabinet doors they help big time because his fine motors aren't there yet. Try it and see
