I am wondering if you got in and what you thought. My daughter went through it late last year and came out a completely different kid. Insurance had no problem paying for it and it literally changed her life...and ours.

I can tell you right now not to put your baby through the ECPHP UCLA's Early Child Hospitalization program. It is ridiculously expensive and nothing "hospitalization" about it. Your child is a ongoing study, hadly ever seen by a doctor or a therapist for that matter. It is a rigid, INTENSE BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION PROCESS. Sometimes it is just plain cruel. I could have had that done closer to home. Having a 2 or 3yo sitting at a desk for hours is not normal. The children's cries are so sad. Eventually it almost looks like they have given up. The kids are just numb from all the crying.
One classroom over from ours, the teacher continuously screamed at this crying child, pushed his head down to look at what she wanted to, was continuously rough on him. One of the mothers in my classroom cried everytime she saw the way they treated him. It was plain awful.
They have little concern for your childs health. My son's toothbrush was always put away dirty, sticky and wet inide of a zip lock bag. They never cleaned him properly so he always had a diaper burn and was left soiled. I had to bring my son after class to the director to show her.
There was one day that one little girl in my son's class was crying and they kept trying to get her to do some work and when the mother finally said enough and went to get her, she had a 103 temperature!! It was so upsetting.
They say that they have a comprehensive team of doctors looking over your child. The only doctor I saw was an assistant professor of child psychology who at the end of our 10 week program couldn't even recognize my son. I don't think he ever even saw him.
Most of the people that care for the kids are interns. A revolving door of students. I have no idea what qualifications the teachers had. I know they were not behaviorists.
If you want a behaviorist to see your child you need to put in a special request and maybe she will take on the case. Then you will only get 4 sessions with her.

At over $850 PER DAY you expect a lot more. If you want your child to get looked at by a gastroenterologist, neurologist, allergist, any doctor at all, you need to find them yourself with additional costs.
The total cost of the program is about $65k. The program gets a lot of contributions too. I really dont know where the money goes. If you look at the facility it is dirty, the bathrooms are horrible, the hallways are run down. The speech therapy room is tiny.

Insurance companies are having more and more of a hard time paying for this program. I'm sorry but I agree with them. The money will be better spent in actual therapy.
If you have any more questions about the program feel free to contact me.
Do yourself and your child a big favor, look at another program and save yourself the headache.

A lot of the people who work there are very nice, but I wasn't looking for nice. I'm looking to help heal my son.
The girls work hard. It is not an easy job. But it is just not right.

THIS PROGRAM WAS LIFE CHANGING FOR OUR SON!!! He did not make any progress for 14 months prior to entering in fact went backwards. After 8 weeks in 2004 we understood what he needed and had an action plan for him. 17 years later he graduated USC one year early and will be going to the #1 data analytics masters program in the country. Do not even begin to know where we be had he not been a part of this program!
