Hi, I have a 3yr old son who is on the spectrum but I have not yet gotten a formal diagnosis am still waiting for dr. Childer's to open his appointment. I am new to Florida my son has medicaid however due to lack of resources he only gets 1 speech therapy a week and 1 OT every other week. A 30 min session per week does not do anything for him as he has sensory, language delay, lack of attention, doesn't feed himself, doesn't touch anything, very little joint attention list goes on. If you are open to other psychologist I can tell you that my 3 year old was diagnosed ASD by Dr. Serena Bloomfield, she is in Jacksonville and accepts Medicaid. We waited less than a month to see her. We also had an evaluation by Dr. Cato Jackson who is a Neuro Psychologist at Nemours shortly after he turned two years old, she also accepts Medicaid.
I left in December 2011 so I am not sure what they do know but Medicaid did not help us much with services they just paid for prescriptions and doctor visits. If you have to go to court it is going to cost you s lawyer and it is going to take time. There have been changes to Medicaid recently but you would have to check with them to see what they will cover.
