His behaviorist said that his OT is the only staff in the school who can implement his sensory diet. She is only twice a week in the school. Can his OT trained his especial ed teacher and his one on one aide/aides in his classroom? We have a kid that not only is in the spectrum but have ADHD, poor functional communication skills, he needs frequent movement, classroom size is too small, i requested a sensory diet as part of his IEP and the answer was that only OT is allow to implement it.
Thank you all for the good advices, I did provide the classroom with like two boxes full sensory toys/ sensory break, teacher and OT said that they are trying to create a quiet/sensory corner in the classroom, the actual size of the classroom is so small, kids ages are 9-10 years, they have serious behavior and sensory issues and no place to retreat or regroup when they are having a dificult time, so sad and disappointing that a school that has the autism program doesnt have much to work with, careless staff, :-(
