How Do I Keep My Runner Safe Out In Public?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My daughter is an all out runner, she doesn't wander she runs! At any public place we visit, she feels the need to run everywhere, behind the counters, into the kitchens, out into the streets. It's so bad it's to the point where I limit where we go and what we do. If I use the harness, she often pulls away and falls out onto the floor and wont stand up or walk. It's summer and I want to take her more places but I fear her constant running.

We had this same issue but we got our daughter to use it after working with her a while. I kind of made her s custom one she could not get out of but it worked after a while. It still did not work all the time so we got her a stroller to put her in while in big crowds or open spaces.

You have to get an RX for them and get them from a durable medical supplier. Generally you need a PT evaluation and the RX from the doctor for the insurance to pay but they will of the documentation is good. Check out a company called Convaid they have nice ones and they are strong and hold up well.

Me too. I have to always keep her in the stroller. I practice walking with me hding my hand in the house and around our neighborhood and that has helped. But I still always have to hold her hand.
