I am wondering if anyone has opinions about Colorado/New Mexico/Arizona areas and the amount of support young adults on the spectrum receive. I have a 15 year old son, and we are looking at relocating to the southwest, and would like to find a community that would fulfill our families needs. My son is high functioning and very quirky!!
Thank you!!
I live in Colorado actually. My daughter is on the CES waiver...best thing ever!! They help pay for ABA and other behavioral related items as well as parent training and education. We also have the Buy In Medicaid Program for those kiddos with disabilities, who's parents make to much for regular medicaid.
Since my daughter is on the CES, she will automatically be transitioned over to adult service wait list next year, so when she turns 18 she will slide right in. It's not the greatest, every state has it's ups and downs, but so far it's been a HUGE help for us!
Phoenix AZ is home to the @Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC). My daughter has been working with a wonderful behaviorist and her team at SARRC for nearly a year. SARRC is great for children's programs as well as teen and young adult programs. You should check them out!
I appreciate everyone's input! I'm going to be contacting the Autism Society of Colorado and Arizona as well about information. Thank you for the answers everyone!!
Welcome to the family - unsure about services there Im from Canada
