I think it is awesome if your child is able to drive..;-) you go .. I think it is good to make sure the kids are able to have independence as much as possible. I hate the thought of anyone to feel alone or unable to get out and do things if they want to. :-)

Back when my son around the age of 16-17 -18 years of age we worked online with the driving practice tests. he did really well on those and I would take him down ot a dead end road I grew up on and have him and his younger brother take turns driving and backing up. But the doctor who was handing the meds at that time for my oldest son (nick) wouldn't help me in tring to help nick drive. The BMV wanted the doctor to sign a paper saying nick could drive (but I don't know how the doctor would know if he could or not seeing he only had known us a few months and only seen us a few minutes in his office here and there.) . Because the doctor refused to sign allowing my son to attempt to get his temps..we gave up on that . I guess certain meds if people are on then the doctor has to sign saying their alright to drive. I think this is silly concidering I only wanted temps as of right now. I wanted to have him driving my truck with me sitting in the truck with him. so it would be all on me ..it would cost me if anything would happen. But then I try to remind myself to pick my battles. When I am frustrated and irrated my son feels it no matter how much I smile ,my moods effect his. So now I am this year going to be moving my two sons and I into town where we will be walking distance to everything. There will be a movie theater , ice cream stand, restaurants, store, all in walking distance. This will not be my dream place to live but it seems practical ..I am getting older and so is he ..this way if anything should happen to me he wont need to drive to be social or to get out of the house alittle. ;-) (I believe where there is a will there is always away.) plus I had told my son if he got his license he would have to be able and willing to get up every morning early to go to work (no matter how tired or moody he felt) and the car would cost him to insure and putting gas in..he thought huuummm maybe he didn't need to drive a car hahaha.
