My three year old seems to be obsessed with her tongue and licks everything. She is non-verbal, so I cannot ask her what is wrong, but it seems like it is getting to be more of an everyday thing lately. Has anyone else experienced this?

My 5yrs old son does the same thing mostly at home than at school and I was told is a sensory issue also I was told to keep on redirecting him. I usually tell him no mouthing or ask him what is in your mouth? once I talk to him he will stop for some times, but it has never been easy.

My son is 2 and he licks a lot of stuff. I was thinking maybe it was sensory or they are trying to explore and figure what things are by licking them I suppose. He also licks his lips til they are raw and unfortunately he is non verbal so we really don't know why he does this.

Mya chews on her shirt as well. They are wet all the time. Sleeves and the front of her shirt. Thank you for sharing.

We went through that a little and briefly. More troublesome was licking his own lips until they were raw. This went on from about age 5 through 12. Seems to have slowed a lot since then. Very occasionally now.

Recently my son has been big on licking people. He thinks it's hilarious and we can't get him to stop he doesn't do it all the time just when he is being playful but even trying to respond in a completely serious way he keeps doing it. He has also started chewing on his shirt and sleeves.
