Anyone Have A Solution For Teeth Grinding!!!?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 3yr old has resorted to grinding his teeth for his new sensory input and I am LOSING MY MIND!!!! The dentist said that there isn't any damage done (yet!) but it's getting out of control. He grinds them all day long -usually when excited, upset, or focused on a preferred activity or song. He can grind while singing songs and counting numbers. I'm at a total loss! His OT recommended massaging where his jaw bones meet and that will stop it momentarily but he picks it right back up again

Hi @A MyAutismTeam Member sorry to take so long to get back to you about the cushion. Here's a link

The problem with the mouth molds for young children is that it can easily become a choking hazard especially during bed time, and while awake they are very unlikely to use it. My son has been grinding his teeth in his sleep and very rarely anymore while forced to sit quietly foe years. I HATE IT! The sound and what I know it can do to his teeth and jaw!

I was also told by my dentist there was nothing they could do for him.

The pillow Nicole mentioned sounds amazing though! So I googled it and a few came up. One called Senseez.

There is also an arm band by another company. Here's some links for different ones:

Dentist didn't have any solutions. They told me it was normal for kids to grind teeth. Met with a new OT today and they noticed he does it when playing activities that do not give him any sensory input and we have this giant inflatable ball that we deflated 90% of the air out of and he stood on it (like a diy wiggle seat) and it took it away!!! He played forever and didn't grind once. She said standing on a pillow would also give the same effect

Oh my gosh I have been going through this for over a year now. Shes grinded her teeth down halfway in the front. Now she has her first loose tooth and she's so angry. Any success in stopping this bad stimming?
