How to increase the focus and attention span? What methods are really effective to increase the attention span? What activities help for adhd?

I know there are a lot of people against meds but adderall has made a huge difference for my son and it is relatively safe. We have had no side effects at all and his concentration if 100 times better.

We found that even keeping him busy would not work so we went the med route. If he is not on it you can tell right away.

Totally agree with @A MyAutismTeam Member! His abilities have improved, and more importantly, his confidence about his abilities.

I waited as long as possible to medicate my 6 yr old son. He has shown no side effects from Adderall, his academic work shot straight up, his confidence as well, I still keep an eye out on his diet there are a few dyes he reacts to and we try not to let him have those. Like everything else his reactions to some things change over time and with exposure. I have found that working on things helps him stay engaged with me, and fixing things encourages problem solving skills. Since he was going to take the toy apart anyways might as well figure out how it works and how to put it back together.

I found that listening therapy and in the last year, Biolink has increased his focus. Also lots of practise - he builds up to 4 puzzles a day. Some just 24 pieces (his favourites) but other 80 - 120 pieces. He sometimes asks for help with the bigger ones but knowing there is a reward at the end of the particular task helps him to stick with it.

@A MyAutismTeam Member we are waiting for some more time to decide if he needs medicines.. If nothing works out we should try that..it's really nice to know that your son does not have side effects.. I read somewhere that the consequences of without medicines is even more than the medicine side effects.. I am trying with the diet first.. Thanks for your reply.
