does anyone have any suggestions for daycare? My daughter not only is autistic but she has a developmental delay, she is blind, in pampers, and non verbal, I am having such a hard time finding daycare for her due to her disabilities, She doesn't require anything other than a diaper change, to be fed, and supervised just as you would any other child but due to her issues every single child care says they are not "qualified" to take care of her
I just want to offer emotional support. I am sorry to hear it's been difficult to get your child a childcare provider. Perhaps reach out to her pediatrician or specialists for advice on finding the appropriate care for her. Check out care.com if you are able, they might show who in your area may be able to take care of her, too.
I also found this for Columbus, Ohio: http://cap4kids.org/columbus/early-intervention...

You need a waiver if you can get one, talk to your county developmental disabiliaties office
Idk why people mention respite when mentioning child care needs. It is not the same thing! That is for personal use to give parents a break. I am currently looking for daycare also, I can't afford to pay a nanny salary to anyone and the county will no longer provide us with childcare because he's over age (12). I was told at an appointment today that the county could help us with specialized child care. I'm not sure if he knew what he was talking about, but I spoke to a woman from an personal care agency and she said my son could get services as long as county board of dd would approve his hours. But still, not sure how true that is, haven't heard from county board of dd since I called them about it 2 weeks ago, I'll keep posting with info as I get it....GOOD LUCK
right, I'm not getting too stressed out about it, I will definitely keep you updated, I have gotten back into the practice of posting here on MAT it relaxes me to write
Haha, well if you DID have respite care services why would you need a daycare??
Either way, I hope you are able to find someone/somewhere soon for your little one. Keep us updated, and hopefully, someone near your area has some idea of where else you can go.
