How Do I Get A Therapist To Come To My Home?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am still all new to this and don't know much about all the info out there, since no one is helping me where I live. I home school my children so my ASD son will not be going to school. I would like to know what kind of therapist comes to your home for therapy? I do not want to put him in a special school. I live in FL if this helps. Thanks

You may want to look into centers specifically for therapy. We have a place locally called Birchtree that offers all services for home schooled children or children that cannot receive full services through their school. They have an outreach program that brings the therapists to your home and is covered in part or fully by many insurance companies.

The local University also has a program called the Seacoast Child Development Clinic that assists in therapy for children with autism.

Reach out to his doctors and even the local school district to see if they know of any similar program available in your area.

FL is tough and my family left there because of this. Generally in most states ABA is handled by the school and if they can't supply enough at school they need to pay for one to go to the home. There is however dependent on an IEP and what evaluations say in regards to what services are needed.

Other than that a lot of state Medicaids are covering ABA now so you can call a local therapist and see if the take Medicaid if FL actually provides it.

Try looking for ABA therapists in your area. That's what I did when I moved to TX.
