My oldest has aspergers as well. He is 7 years old and recently stopped doing this. It took a lot of repetitiveness and about 3 years from start to end. I understand the frustration. We had tried every thing we could think of. Taking away favorite thing. Taking away favorite places to go. No friends coming over. Time outs we tried many many times to reason with him. We would sit down and talk to him over and over and over again. What made this even more frustrating was he knew that stealing was wrong. He would even say that stealing is wrong. The only thing that helped him was showing him you tube videos on where kids that steal and get caught go. He saw a few videos of juvie and I think it finally sank in. It was very frustrating and also sad because he would cry and say that he knows it's wrong but he didn't know why he kept doing it. He felt helpless and so did we. But finally thank goodness he has stopped. I understand the struggle. I hope you are able to find something that helps. Maybe try showing him what happens and where you go if you don't stop stealing. My thoughts go out to you. . There is no hug button here but I give u a big hug. 🙂
