keep going! It will happen eventually! Speech therapists are huge and make sure if your son works with one that you take notes and ask questions so that you can continue the work he/she is doing at home. Incorporate speech and sign in everything whenever you can, regardless of if he responds to it or not..eventually he will. Repetition and perseverance is key. My son took forever to make strides and even then they were slow progressing but he has definitely progressed. He has come so far it is amazing..slow and steady wins the race! Keep up the good work!!!

There are many free communication apps on smartphones, iPads, etc. you could start with downloading one that is simple that has a few favorite food choices, toys and the words yes and no. My son used a communication device/app for awhile and eventually learned how to speak in full sentences after seeing and hearing the words over and over. If he does not learn to speak but can use some way to communicate he will have better behavior and he leads frustrated.

Use flash cards with small three-letter words to begin with. Be patient, he'll come along.
