Hello! I'm curious if anyone is currently using a gluten-free diet for their child? And if so, have you seen improvements in behavior etc? Thank you!! Kelly
@A MyAutismTeam Member Hi, wanted to encourage you to keep baking those Gluten free recipes. We use one on the back of Bob's Red Mill company bag. It is delicious. The zucc bread holds up well, over time because it is so moist. I also added mini choc chips to it, and it became a dessert ! Yummo ! Most GF bread recipes need to be used immediately, or frozen. The breads are also good heated up, or toasted. Keep practicing, and the Bob's products are perfected and ready to bake with after adding the wet ingredients.
@A MyAutismTeam Member that's amazing! I hope the diet continues to work for him. Thank you for all the information, I really appreciate it!
@A MyAutismTeam Member -- We are still working on finding a milk substitute he likes. He does not like the almond milks so far, so I am going to try rice milk next. He does take a calcium supplement (gummi king) and a mulitvitamin (smartypants), and drinks water, juice, and gatorade (sorry, but it's true and I'm not ashamed) for his beverages right now. He eats a lot more solid food, now that he is not chugging milk, so I am definitely happy with that (though we are fortunate he has never had a problem being underweight). Walmart sells a gluten-free pasta that he eats really well, called Tinkyada. The mini-shells are the same texture/consistency as regular pasta. He has now had 6 days in a row of no behaviors at school (today will be day 7 if none today), which I cannot recall the last time that happened.
Thanks, @A MyAutismTeam Member! I'll keep at it! 😘
Wow! Thank you both for the feedback! It sounds like it is worth looking into. @A MyAutismTeam Member, did you substitute anything for his milk? Soy or rice milk? And @A MyAutismTeam Member, is there a certain cookbook or a website that you like for a gluten-free recipes? I tried to make a gluten-free zucchini bread tonight and it was horribly unsuccessful! But I'm game for trying anything! Thanks again.
