My son and I are looking to move to CA next year. I'm in search of the best schools for special needs, the best resources, programs and activities for him. He's never had ABA services but could use it. He's high-functioning, loves cooking, swimming, fishing, painting, playing musical instruments and a host of other things. I'm also looking for support groups for us both. Looking to meet and build relationships with other parents and children.

I love cooking, entertaining...I'm a… read more

I loved Easter Seals for ABA support. My daughter had great results with her ABA therapist and I loved her. I would suggest signing up for the San Andreas Regional Center. They will provide support until your child is an adult and it's FREE. The thing is the waiting list is like 6 months so sign up ASAP and you have to bring proof of the diagnosis. Through San Andreas we got free respite care that we used so hubby and I could have a date night. And when I was injured it was good to have respite care watch my daughter until my hubby got off work. I cannot say enough about them. My daughter had a wonderful kindergarten teacher at Sakamoto Elementary school but she retired. I don't know about any other schools because we moved. We lived in San Jose (Santa Clara County). i worked at Rocketship which is a charter school and they have some good supports for high functioning ASD kids. My daughter had severe language delays and was non-verbal up until she was 4.5 so my school wasn't a good fit for her. Hope this helps!

The Learning Fountain in San Ramon. Amazing ot program. Joelle at Pediatric Building Block . Great speech therapist . All paid for by Connecting Waters charter school. If you are in the Bay Area contact Connecting waters East Bay. Other
wise there is Connecting Waters and Connecting waters Central Valley . There are other good charter schools called Valley View and Visions. These are all good independent study charter school with a learning center.
There is a private school in Palo Alto named Hope Technology. Too expensive for us but heard it’s great.
