if yes, how does it work? Can i be my own child's caregiver/provider if approved? thinking about applying for IHSS for my 5 year old daughter.

I am not sure where you live, but in California you can. You have to apply, the child has to be approved for the service, and then you have to attend an orientation. In California if the child receives SSI he/she is automatically eligible for IHSS services. However, the hours awarded will be dependent upon what the worker deems his/her needs to be.

I haven't, but I was told we can't be Tyler's provider cause it's hard to bill for hours if you watch them everyday. Of course, that could just be our state or agency. Good luck
