We live in the UK but saw a regular dentist who was reluctant to "try my suggestion" so we tried her way and it went incredibly bad..so he did end up ontop of me sitting in dentists chair with me restraining his hands and arms, forehead (as I would in Doc's for his ear examination) so she could barely get a look in his mouth.
Since we went to the CDC child development centre here for assessment one of the services offered to us is a special needs dentist who apparently have autism experience so the full appointment is treated differently ie our son may come into the surgery and be allowed to pace and become familiar with the surroundings before they even start to try getting a look at his mouth.
I have the same worry abt upcoming blood test for my son, absolutely no idea how they are going to keep him still to draw blood.
If others can help on these matters Is appreciate what the say.
No one wants to put their chils under anaesthetic I guess π
