Does Anyone Know How To Get An IPad For An Autistic Toddler Covered?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My sons speech therapist wants us to get an ipad and autism apps for my child to use as a communication device. I cant afford one. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get one covered or for free for an autism child?

You can ask your insurance company, they may cover one under the Durable Medical Equipment, if it's actually required for him to speak, but they're super picky (i.e. jerks) about it. Proloquo2go was the best app, but it's like $200. there are knock off ones that are less expensive and free also. You can ask his school, if he's in school, but then it would technically belong to them, and you'd have to get permission for him to bring it home. There's also charities like the Lions Club and Kiwanis, you can write to, you can also google Free iPad for Autism (and your state) and you'll get a lot of different hits in your area
