Inpatient Therapy
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question đź’

My Son is 32 yrs. old and was diagnosed two years ago as being on the spectrum. He also suffers from depression. The Drs. have suggested inpatient therapy to deal with both issues. Does anyone have insights into inpatient centers that are not also addiction centers?

Many inpatient centers also treat addiction. I’ve yet to figure that one out. My only guess is funding, doctor availability and/or lack of facilities/resources. There are facilities that treat only “mental health” patients and that is the direction I’d take. Since I’ve battled depression and disorders my entire life (and I’m a military Vet), I’ve been to facilities all over the country. The treatment facility that changed my life was strictly for mental health issues and I would not hesitate to send my son there. 🤔 Actually, he does receive counseling through this center with wonderful results. Outpatient (daily) treatment would be preferable for my son, however. I’m all kinds of nervous leaving my son anywhere overnight unless his life were at risk, of course.
