So I have been looking into a gluten free diet for my son and I’ve read a lot of positive things about the diet. One issue I have is... he is an extremely picky eater. Has anyone ever switched their picky eaters over to a gluten free diet? Is so, how did it work? What recipes were used?
My kids had Candida - which feeds on sugar and carbs. So when we changed our diet, they craved the foods even more and got irritable during the "die off" period. We started with replacing the top 3 foods they ate. Be careful though...moving to a GF diet doesn't mean simply switching out gluten processed food for non-gluten processed foods. I think its okay to start there, but I'd keep moving on your journey toward more whole foods that doesn't come in boxes and are more organic.
I switched my little guy to gluten free and dairy free and found it opened his taste buds. He used to be very picky and a few weeks on the diet, he was eating all sorts of foods, including veggies! I'm happy to give you tips if you're interested.
It really depends because everyone is so different. For example, I have 1 kid who did ok with gluten free flour blends, but my youngest son (no asd but lab tests were just has horrible as my ASD son), he did horrible with it because it still fed his candida (yeast in the gut). So...we switched to almond flours and coconut flours for bread. There are some tasty foods using almond flour - but again - you gotta watch too many nuts in the diet.
I love the TACA website. I'd post the link but everytime I post links I get yelled at, so google it. You can google TACA gluten free diet.
Being an extremely eater is a HUGE reason to do the diet. Is there another way outside of this site we can chat? I haven't figured it out.
Thank you!!!! All info has been so helpful
