Hi everyone! I wanted to ask everyone a question. My 25 yr old son is non-verbal on the spectrum and very very nervous when it comes to doctors and dentists. He is scheduled for sedation in order to get a regular dental cleaning and checkup. He was younger , maybe 17 or 18 when he last had his wisdom teeth taken out under sedation and he did well.

My child is slot younger but the Dr was willing to prescribe a one time dose of po Valium ( small dose) that was given with a sip of water about one hour before the procedure It was just enough to relax. He also used topical numbing medicine on the arm before the IV was placed. It went well. Good luck

My son has to have surgery every 10 weeks under anesthesia so I know what you mean about keeping him away from food. I have to hide everything in my refrigerator that could be a meal. This is not fun.
