Hi DiamondCrable, my son was nonverbal until the age of 5yrs. I taught him how to urinate at the age of 2yrs, that was a little easier. However with BM, it was harder but not because he was nonverbal, I think just because going number 2 freaked him out, he finally learned at the age of 9yrs. A person doesn't have to be verbal to be taught, I feel our children learn better through pictures/visually anyhow. Good luck!

Hello. My child is 5 & non verbal. He isn't fully potty trained yet. Sometimes he'll remember he has to pee then will use the toilet. Most times he was in trainy pants but we have just switched back to underwear hoping it will help more. As for pooping, he isn't doing good at all. He won't sit on the toilet seat & poop. I'll let him go then 10-15 mins he has already pooped in his undie. I'm not sure if it's because he doesn't understand that he needs to poop when I train him. Still working. Not easy but I want my child to be independent. One of my top goals!

My son is 3 and nonverbal. We use a timer. Started at every 15 minutes and increased the time in correspondence to dry pull-ups. We are currently at every 45 minutes. Once I get to an hour I switch to underwear. We also had our first poop over the weekend..yay! I wasn't expecting it but was happy about it. I also keep the bathroom door open, even though he's nonverbal after doing the timer for a little while now he gets what goes on in there, so he'll now go sit on the toilet himself every once and a while. It's a process and I'm fully expecting it to go on for a while, but the timer worked for my asd daughter, and now seems to be working for my asd son.
