Licking?!?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone else have a problem with their child licking any and everything? My daughter cannot seem to stop. It's as if she's compelled to do it. I'm at my wit's end. One of these days she's going to lick the wrong person/shopping trolley/toy and she's going to get seriously ill. Does anyone have any solutions for this issue?

I am pretty certain it's from Sensory Integration Disorder. There are a lot of websites where you can buy stuff for all sensory issues from soft clothing to weighted blankets. I also use Amazon.

My son does this....its become my normal.
I assume my some does this either bc of a strong taste,or bc of how it feels on his tougn so I figure it is a type of stimulation or sensory issue

I would try one of the sensory devices for sensory integration disorder, like a soft rubber necklace (if your little girl is not an infant or toddler) that they can pull up and into their mouth and chew on. Or keep her busy out and about with a loop straw and drink for that oral need to chew or suck.

My son's a chewed he chews his fingers and toes. He doesn't care for chewys very much (except the vibra chews) but he does like the soothie pacifiers.

My son chews on everything! If it’s in his hands it goes in his mouth. The best solution I’ve found is suckers. The sucker keeps him occupied so he’s not wanting to chew on things that aren’t food.
