What led to this decision? My daughter dr has suggested many times this would be the next step. Breaks my heart but want only the best thing in the world for my girl. Any info would be great.
My daughter was placed at 7 and is now 12 and i cant even express how much my nonverbal daughter has progressed. She was self injurous and had very little communication skills and was prone to tantrums. Since being there she has made a lot of progress, sge can communicate and does not hurt herself or others much anymore. She participates in Spartan Race and Special Olympics and gets medals ever time.
I will tell you that emotionally it is tough to let yiur child go and even all thrse yesrs later i have guilt from time to time. I like a lot of people tried everything else and nothing worked. Her redidential is part of a school so she is thrre until 22. To be honest my wife and i could not give her what she needed. It was a good decission and i dont regret it. We have her on the weekends and around the holidays and her trips home are much better than before.
The earlier you start to give your child skills the better outcome you will have most times. I hope this helps you, good luck.
Thankyou so much so nice to know I am not alone. @A MyAutismTeam Member
Thanks so much @A MyAutismTeam Member very helpful all the things you mention are things I want for my girl. We will definately keep you updated. Thanks again.
The therapist must have pushed her too much. If you corner a dog, it will bite and if you corner a human being, you will get aggression. Change the therapist.
We have done every diet and hyperbaric foot baths all kinds if vitamins. Her agressions have become so severe that meds were a must to keep her and ourselves safe. She has had some pretty great days lately but then yesterday she bit her therapist so bad it bled. So always a full circle and just wonder if she had better structure maybe she would be a happier girl.
