Housing For Your Children When They Are Adults (Texas)
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have an adult son with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Eight years ago I founded COMMUNITY FOR PERMANENT SUPPORTED HOUSING (txcpsh.org) to help people with disabilities and autism find safe, affordable, community-based housing right in the neighborhoods they have lived in as they have grown up. We now have adults with autism living on their own with support services (Medicaid and private pay) as necessary.

Love this! You get feedback from Herman so you know how Robert is doing. Great job, Mom!

He has been living on his on own for quire awhile. Now he does it with help with our agency and funding through the state. Also we have a staff member who assists him. Herman has been with Robert forever and he will tells me when Robert messes up.

Harriet, your son is lucky. How does it feel to YOU for your son to be living in that option? Any advice for other parents? Thank you, Robin

My son was very lucky and lives in a HUDD building across the street is the Mall in Towson, Maryland. He can walk to the HUssman Center for Adults with Autism. Which has Social groups and classes.
