The dentist prescribed xanax for my daughter so she wouldn't be afraid. Insurance covered it.

@ Christina9187 have you tried calling your insurance? Usually they will tell you what dentist in your area will cover the sedation or your current Dentist should have a list on what Dentist do the sedation and or cover it as well. I have a local Dentist for my boys and 2 of them are on the spectrum; 1 is ok on letting the dentist work in his mouth but my youngest 1 at first would not allow anyone to put anything / and or look in his mouth (I also had to get him sedated) at 3 yrs old to have work done as he had split 1 of his baby front teeth from a fall / rough play & had to have the tooth removed; my local Dentist had given us a referral to have the sedation done else where as they did not do the sedation at their office & provided us w/ a few contact numbers to call / schedule w/ those who did accept our insurance as well. I will admit, I had to drive about 1 hr away.. but it got done & the insurance had covered it / I had a sm. co pay. He also has state insurance / medicaid. He's gone to the dentist every 6 months for checkups since 1 yrs old; now he's 7 yrs old & he's use to it / tolerates more than before w/ the dentist. Good luck hope this helps / guides you into the right direction :).

Will do. Thank you so much for your input. My son has medicaid, so we'll see. Either way if I have to pay, I will, I don't want my baby to suffer, it's just him being in pain until I can save up for it that really concerns me.

I'm going through this. Luckily my insurance covers sedation at 80%. Look up Special Care Dentistry and give them a call. i am planning on taking my son there in June to have dental procedures done. It will be his 1st time being sedated.
