@A MyAutismTeam Member Hi, have you looked into some government agencies to help your 19 year old with a job? In PA we have the Office of Vocational Resources. Other states may have something similar, with a different name. The ARC can also offer some help?

My Autistic daughter got jobs at fast food restaurants. Would last 2-3 weeks get fired or quite and move onto the next job. Also worked at Good Will. It took about four years before she settled into a job and is still there. Been over 6 months now!

VR can help. They have organizations that work with them in helping individuals with special abilities find a job that is right for them. Keep in mind it is a process in my case my son will probably just start out working a day or two a week.

Ever try a temp work agency? They hire anyone but the jobs can change or get the option for permanent work. The unemployment rate is at its lowest since 1973 so it won't get any easier.

Go into business on his own. Mow lawns, do odd jobs or whatever he can do just to get some experience and a job reference.

On the other hand the unemployment rate for people with ASD is around 75% which is higher than for other disabilities.
