What kind of snacks do your kids like that are actually good for them? I have been looking more closely at the way my daughter eats recently, and am starting to feel like a bad parent.
The way she eats at breakfast is particuarly disturbing. She used to eat cereal ...now she seldom does. Instead, she wants things like leftover pizza and pasta that might be in the fridge. Wendy, are they higher taste foods that give good info to her senses? Does she ever over stuff her mouth?
These may be indicators of her mouth not giving her brain sufficient info. Which are indicators that eating some foods may be challenging.
Oh and above muffins are also gluten and dairy free. They are satisfying and delicios
Our sweet boy also choosie what he will eat We were concerned if he gets enough protein and veggies. Garden lites makes these chocolate muffins which have two two servings of veggies (carrots and zuchinni) and also egg whites. It does have sugar and chocolate but it helps him get more veggies and protein
I try to stick to what my kids like but make it in a more healthier way...example my kids love pasta too so I buy veggie noodles and put ground turkey or turkey sausage in the meat sauce, I also hide veggies in there too...I'm constantly hiding stuff in their food too like i put spinach and shredded carrots in meatloaf, once it's drenched in ketchup they don't notice 😉...I do this with a lot of dinners...so I dont mind if they ask me for it for breakfast because I know it's healthier than a bowl of cocoa puffs lol.
My daughters go tos for lunches, and she always brings her lunch because she's so picky, is peanut butter and honey sandwiches, or lunchmeat and cream cheese roll ups (basically rolled in tortilla bread)...this is usually with a side of goldfish and freeze dried strawberries (she loves these).
So far hit snacks for the summer have been strawberries, frozen gogurt (not all that healthy but kiddos love it), and popsicles...hey keeps them hydrated lol.
I do gluten free everything. It is very pricey but very worth it.
