Does anyone have any words of encouragement? Today is my son Lucas' first day of modified low carb/gf/mct diet and its very trying. Anyone have any feedback from personal experienece?

My son is on gluten free but not at school. But this works for us. I tried gluten free because of his behavior. I did it gradually. I buy gluten free pizza chicken nuggets and gluten free cupcakes. Some times I give him regular crackers and snacks. I don't want to totally restrict him. Especially since his behavior has been good for 3 years now.

Evan does better on a gluten free diet. He has a lot of GI issues. He's either constipated or loose stools. When his gut is not good, then his behaviors are not good. We've tried a lot of different recipes and some he won't touch. The ones we try and he likes we have put in a 3 ring binder and in an app. I also find certain brands of things he prefers. I'd give the diet a try. What if it made a huge difference in his life? There are lots of recipes on pinterest.

We tried both gluten and casein free diets ; which were an absolute nightmare to manage in a family of 4 . My son is also sensitive to taste and texture , so this made it doubly hard. This made no difference to his behaviour . It also made him more suspicious of food and caused a lot more upsets/ meltdowns . Some report positive changes in child, but from my experience of it, wouldn’t recommend unless medically necessary and supported by a dietitian.

We did gluten free dairy free with one of our boys for more than a year. We did not cheat. We did not notice improvement. I think it does work for some kiddos but ours wasn't one of them.

We tried a quasi dairy and gluten free diet when my son was 2 yrs old. It was tough as we ended up cheating during the weekends. Didn’t see anything different that was stood out.
