Toilet Issues
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My gson either doesn't wipe good or doesn't wipe at all. I keep wipes and even rubber gloves. He's 11 yrs old and i worry about him getting bullied over it. I keep wipes and underwear at school for him. I have spoken to all of his Dr's. I don't know what else to do about it.

This is a tough one, but our daughter mastered it. I still keep extra underwear and wipes in backpack for emerencies, but she does not have to use them. She is 12 and we had to move onto the next thing for girls around 12 and older.

I leave wipes and underwear i the nurses office. He has special permission to use that restroom. He can't handle the toilets flushing and the echo it makes. It hurts his ears. Bathing, showing, and brushing are like pulling teeth. I've spoke to all of his Drs about all of it. I don't know who else to talk to.

glad you are sending the wipes and gloves with him. My son does the same at home and doesn't use public bathrooms. He even asked for permission in HS to use the staff /adult restrooms, so the smells and behavior wouldn't give him anxiety. It will get better for him. How is his showering/bathing routine? That helps as well. Good luck.
