Group Home Protocol Question.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

If you do not have guardianship of your adult autistic, is it true that group homes have to basically honor the autistic adult's wishes when it comes to taking their meds and showering and they are not obligated to ensure that the adult in fact takes his meds and showers?

In pa it seems to be a grey area after 3 days of not showering becomes health and safety issue so we can help them shower...our individuals can refuse there meds but than they become home bound because they are now unpredictable and unsafe and if there is a real problem you can take to the human rights board meeting and explain your problem they convene every 3 months...Rights are a very big issue because our autistic friends never had any and there lives were being ruled by their staff and supervisor i think they need to work them out a little to include there health and safety a little more but...its hard due to certian people taking advantage of our individuals???
