My 4yo non verbal son has a very dry scalp, he is not a fan of baths and showers ,though i do give him a shower atleast one to two times a week with help from my husband ...other times i wipe him down and use dry shampoo...the issue is that he has a severely dry scalp.
What do you parents use to help get rid of it and what do you do to prevent it from coming back?
'Scalpacin'...

It alleviates the Itching and allows the Scalp to recover.
Have been using it on Stephen for over 10 years, and I must say, it Helped Him to have a better attitude once He did not have that constant irritation and temptation to dig at His head.
He might have a fungal infection. Try head and shoulders and I wouldn’t use dry shampoo until it clears up. Maybe the build up of oil from missing a couple of washes combined with head and shoulders might help. I Use to get dry scalp and doctor told me to use head and shoulders and if it did not work come back and they would give me a prescription strength one. Also generic did not work for me at all. I was trying to save a couple bucks and bought target brand and it did not work so my husband went and bought me head and shoulders brand and it worked like a charm after first wash my scalp felt amazing. Hope this is helpful
My kiddo has the same problem but only during the winter months, when he was younger we used coconut oil on his scalp. Now that Tereus is older we buy the head and shoulders dry scalp and we put the coconut oil in it as well, then when he gets out we put aveeno lotion on his scalp. have since he was a baby cleared it up quickly for tereus.
Coconut oil on the scalp will also work.
I second trying head and shoulders. Also, try leave in conditioner spray. It may be that the dry shampoo is drying out his scalp, so maybe try washing with water on the 2 days he has a bath. I hope this helps.
