As far as drugs go be very careful. My son is 22 and has been on very many drugs. If I knew the side effects then like I do now I would have not have been so fast starting him on anti-psychotics.
He now has movement disorders from the drugs. The doc says hopefully they will dissapate as he grows older but it breaks my heart how he gets stuck.
He is on Prozac, tenex, and Xanax. All good for OCD, ANXIETY, and mood.
Please stay away from riseperadal, ability, or any anti-psychotic the doc wants to use off label.
Try not to use any drugs. Try sensory O. T., weighted vest, calming environmental, trampolines, swings, anything that can help your child calm.

My son was like that at that age. He is 12 now. Diagnosed only with ADHD then. We tried Adderall back then. We are on Vyvanse now. It works better for him; seems to also calm his anxiety and the Adderall was keeping him up worse at night.
He also uses over the counter Melatonin at night. I don't know how your buddy sleeps, but we've struggled since he was born. Melatonin is a Godsend; it helps him function better during the day with rest.
Maybe talk to your dr. about medication alternatives.

Guanfacine (Tenex) is pretty good for ADHD. My daughter has used it for 4 years. It can make a kid more tired though.
