Currently using Risperidone and considering a switch and need to tell Doctor my decision asap and MAT feedback is part of my research. Thanks!

My daughter uses Abilify for intermittent explosive disorder and anxiety. It’s helped her a lot.

My oldest was on Zoloft for a few years, the doctor switched him to Prozac once he started getting bigger because he said it is a little stronger. He also takes Hydroxyzine with his Prozac for really bad days. It has helped him tolerate school more this year, he isn't taking his headphones any more and he isn't head banging. He still picks at his skin but not clawing it like he used to, I definitely see an improvement.

Blessings to you and your family! My son has been on every medication under the sun, including Zoloft, Risperidone, and Abilify. None of them did a thing, except agitate him all the more and made him gain an enormous amount of weight. Zyprexa was the best med for him; however, the weight gain was horrible, so he was taken off and given, yet another medication. What works for one doesn't work for all. Each child's system is different. I always pray over every med given to my son, and I will pray that you find the one that works for your baby! May God continue to strengthen and to bless you!

My son switched from Risperidone to Abilify after having taken it for 14 years. I was against it at first because I didn’t want to disrupt his progress for an unknown. He was definitely experiencing all the unintended side effects of Risperdal however, so we gave it a chance. Wish they’d brought it up WAY sooner and we hadn’t dragged our feet..because WOW...major difference for him. More language, less irritable, happier, more social, the hormone problems went away.

Zoloft appears to be helping my child’s anxiety. Only 2 months in though. Early results around a month but I’ve read improvements can continue through 6 months. Best of luck with the meds. Always such trial and error.
