Crotch Pulling Behavior

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭
Charlotte Hall, MD

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to block crotch pulling behavior? My 14 year old daughter does this, usually when she's upset. It seems to make her more upset, yet seems uncontrollable. If if I tell her to "stop" she will have a very long, hysterical screaming fit that will probably last for an hour or more.

Maybe suggest to her something she can do instead. Like “put your hand on your ears” or “keep your hands on your knees or above your waist”
