we just moved back from a long stay in the middle east and our son is autistic with ID and he is now 25 years old. we live in virginia now and looking for any program that can help us place him even if it is a private as all the state funded has a long waiting list. so we can pay for his placement until such time we get the waiver approval. please help us if you you have a name or a resource of a consultant to guide us through

My son is a 25 autistic with aggression and destructive behavior please help

My 7-year-old autistic son is high-functioning and goes to grade 1 in a regular school and regular class. He has some challenges with paying attention, sitting, and following some rules but he is doing well academically. His teacher has told us we should consider sending him to special classes in other schools. We feel that the teacher's advice is mostly for her comfort rather than the benefit of our child. Any advice on what should be our strategy toward this problem?

My daughter and 2 of her classmates will soon "age-out" of our state's education program for special needs children. They have "behaviors" that will prevent them from obtaining and keeping a job. We have been going back and forth. With our 25 year old son who is autistic, with aggressive behaviors. He was on respiradone and the doctor changed it to invega which worked for the first 7 days and then all hell broke loose whe. He started to become so hyperactive and was eating until he vomits. What do you encourage for independent play. Be have drawing and puzzles down but can't seem to find anything else she'll take interest in. She's almost 3 and electronics are not an option at this time.

Been fighting with school for the last couple of years just to get adequate support for my son. Even with the support I don’t think the quality is good. Thinking about moving to another state. Can any parent share positive experiences with public school? Thanks.
