Hi! My son has suffered from night terrors on & off since toddler days. Melatonin can create really, visual dreams. Try Gaba or L-Theanine supplements - helps ease the brain into sleep naturally. Good luck!
@A MyAutismTeam Member i will definetly try that. Thank you
@A MyAutismTeam Member he isnt on any meds.
@A MyAutismTeam Member we have teied melatonin and it seems to make it worse it seems like.
We found it happening as a consequence of a medication implementation. We moved to natural alternatives and they didnt continue.
My son had night terrors after anesthesia from 4 months until he was 2. He would wake up screaming and thrashing, but it was like he couldn't see - he wasn't really awake.
What worked the best was to just hold him for safety, but no talking or rocking. The stimulation makes it worse. He'd suddenly fall back asleep (after what felt like forvever, but 10-15 minutes).
From 3-6, he often needed to sleep in our bed by the middle of the night- he'd wake up crying or start kicking his door or walls.
Now he shares a room with his brother and never bangs, and melatonin helps him go back to sleep after 1am wake ups.
