Potty Training
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My daughter who has ASD is 2 and A half, she is a very big 2 and a half year old. Not really fat just tall and solid but none the less out growing a size six diaper (they are barely strapping) so I guess I have several questions here..... how old were some of your children on the spectrum when they potty trained? What were some of their challenges and things you found that worked well for them? And if potty training isn’t an option has anyone had to order diapers bigger than a 6 and where is the… read more

Our son was potty trained during the day, but not at night. He had accidents. He was wearing pull-ups overnight until he was 12 before he no longer needed them. They are all different. It is very… read more

Disposable Diaper (not Pull-up) Recommendation For 45lb Child?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My daughter is 4 and 45lbs and has ASD. She is not potty trained and has outgrown size 6 Luvs diapers. She can't wear Pampers or Huggies because they burn her skin. We have been ordering from Amazon, but Luvs does not make a size 7. She doesn't like pull-ups and won't cooperate with putting them on. She needs 8-10 diaper changes per day, and sometimes 1 overnight, depending how long she sleeps. Some days we still have 2-3 blowouts because she has no awareness and food just goes right… read more

Potty Training
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son is 5.....he has HFA, ADHD combo, SPD, and Pica.....he will use the potty at school but fights at home.....he doesn't mind sitting in soiled or wet pull ups or underwear.....he will go potty if he is changing and has to go.....so now my questions......

How long will this last?
Why doesn't it bother him to be in soiled or wet pull ups or underwear?
Why don't rewards work?
Am I alone in this?

I'm tired of smelling my child in public

Organizational Help! For Those With Littler Ones, Do You Carry Multiple Diaper Bags?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have a 3.5yo (ASD) and 8 month old. Both still wear diapers. On top of diapers for each, I usually need to carry wipes, changing pad, bibs, snacks, drinks, cup, bottle, teethers/toys, blanket, possibly a change or two of clothes, and various small toiletry items. I find myself always needing to carry two bags when we go out for anything more than quick errands. I also spend a lot of time living out of our car since DS1 goes to therapy/preschool over an hour away 4 days a week. I keep another… read more

I also buy boxes of doggie poop trash bags from the Dollar Tree. They are 75 bags/$1 and are the perfect size for containing a stinky diaper or wet outfit.

Dallas Life Skills High School Classrooms
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

We are moving to the Dallas area. We have a high functioning 15 year old son with Autism. He has been in life skills classrooms. Looking for a high school with awesome support and creative teachers! We hear Plano and Frisco, but would like specific school recommendations.

Did you try to connect with parents in the Dallas area in FIND PARENTS section? or look in the PROVIDER tab? I know it's hard to get this sort of information before a move. Good luck.
