Marietta, GA

I am wondering if anyone has insight into obtaining social security disability benefits for my 6 y/o with level 2 autism. I am unable to work due to all of his therapies and the on going stress related to his diagnosis. My husband works hard to keep us afloat, but money is tight. Am I able to file for disability for my son? I am not sure how it all works. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!

We went through the process he was labeled disabled but unable to collect benifits because we made to much money. For a family of 4 we need to make less the 35,000 a year.

Make sure you don't have a account for your son with more than 2,000 dollars .My son just qualified for his full amount at 21years old. Prior to that they only allowed him 12 dollars because he was receiving child support. They count every penny that comes in your house hold.If you are approved for ssi benefits you will more than likely be approved for food stamps as well.

Yes, you can. Make sure you have all paper work from his diagnosis and any other related info. But be prepared you will have to report all income you have.
