Anyone have their child on Lexapro? Doctor suggested that medication for my son's anxiety and depression. Can anyone tell me about it please.

I had good luck and zero side effects taking it in college. It did not work well for my nonverbal son. We had to stop it for him after a week. Abilify works well for him now. Everyone's body chemistry is different though.

Many kids have had luck with the ssri class of drugs. My child did not. Anxiety is a huge issue for my kid. But all the ssri class of drugs caused “ activation “ in my child. More hyper and worsening anxiety. Those meds are for depression and anxiety. My child had only anxiety and did not do well with. Also takes 4-8 weeks for results. But many on this site have had luck with and will hopefully chime in. Good luck
