What Resources Can I Use To Help With Coverage Of My Daughters ABA Therapy If They Don't Accept Our Medicaid?

My daughter began her ABA therapy at a center for Autism in January. I had worked for months all 2022 to get her a diagnosis so she could be on the waitlist and accepted at this school, Because she spent the first half of 2022 being kicked out of different daycares since they did not have the skills to help my daughter. Parkland Medicaid in Dallas County covered her sessions at the center when she began in January. However, throughout the process of her enrollment I moved from Dallas County to Tarrant County (Euless, Texas). This move was prompted by ending a difficult relationship with her father. I updated my address and asked if it would impact my daughter's therapy and was told that it had the same benefits ( AETNA Betterhealth). This change was made 1/31/23 and I received no notification until 3/1/23 that My daughter was no longer covered for her therapy and childcare and that she could not return until I could pay the $7,800 out of pocket or provide new insurance that they accept. I will take any help and resources available. My daughter was making so much progress in this program and may be out of it for a month if not longer depending on the new coverage. On top of me being left with this bill that I can not afford to pay I am struggling to work fulltime and pay my bills without stable childcare and the only support I have to keep her while her dad and my mom are working are her great-grandparents.

Call medicaid and ask them about it. And ask them to give you a provider that accepts their insurance. Try to not pay the bill. They should have been upfront with you about the insurances they accepted and let you know right away what the problem was.
