I had a similar issue but it also started when speech started working on accepting new foods in that if he didn't want the food, he could throw it away. Which was great because he was touching new foods, but I think he decided that if this works for food it must work for all things I don't want anymore and started throwing toys and other things away. I asked his speech to please have him do something other then throwing away the food and sure enough throwing away of toys also stopped. Not sure if this helps.
