A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've been cleaning poop off the floors a d walls for 15 or so months every single day. There was a period of defeat when i just couldnt take it. I quit for a period of time and now stuck with cleaning old poop off of a wall. Nothing is working. Any tips? I know its disgusting a d im so angry i have up but i want it clean and ready to start the process again of keeping up.

Hugs ❤️ I was once guilty of....um..."artwork" when I was a toddler. From what my parents have told me, it sounds like they had more fun than a barrel of monkeys cleaning it up, lol 🙄 Fortunately for them, it seems that once was enough for me to get it out of my system. I feel it's a sensory thing. It's no surprise that, to this day, I like the feel of Play Doh and slime 😆

Have you tried offering other sensory activities? This may fuel the need to "squish and spread." Maybe finger paints, slime as I had mentioned, or even a sensory bin. Hope this helps! :)

How old is your child. Mine was old enough to help me clean. Once i had him assist he seemed to stop. I would tell him you do you clean. Lol now all his messes he cleans. Throws on floor then he picks it up.

My kiddo did the same thing with poop. It was frustrating, but eventually he stopped doing it. Disinfectant, rubber gloves and deep breaths.

15 months wow! My daughter smeared poop on the walls for a while and it was probably lowest point for me. I got to the point of yelling and pointing to the wall.

I read online that you should put your kid in the bathroom and use cold water to deter more poop on the walls. My daughter just laughed because she loved the cold water and still likes hot or cold water more than most people.

I asked her if she enjoyed having her room smell like a toilet.

I think she just grew out of that phase but she enjoys other things that piss the family off. The key I think was when she became potty trained.

He's 7. The only problem is he can throw poop on the ceiling at times.
