Son has been having a hard time with sleep it’s impacting his behavior in the morning his constantly very irritable his taking right now prazosin but it’s making it worse.. constantly having meltdowns.We tried guanfacine about two years ago but discontinued because he was falling asleep in the daytime so doctor thinks switching him to this at night will be best. He takes quilivant 4ml in the morning for adhd.
@A MyAutismTeam Member, From personal experience with My Son who had went through what your Son is going through, it was more about a Night-time routine, and that included a healthy B.M. and a Bath/Shower just before bed.
It was less about the medications and more about the routine.
Also, helping Him overcome the 'Monster(s)' in hIs bedroom, giving Him the power to control His situation.
Hydroxine is an antihistamine similar to benadryl that is non narcotic and used for anxiety and meltdowns as needed. It works pretty well for my son most of the time

I have not tried guanfacine yet but I am seriously considering trying it for adhd for Liam this summer.
My son is on it for aggressive behaviors.
