Franklin, IN

I was a shy kid growing up, but now I'm starting to pay attention to my speech and noticing idiosyncratic speech, and it really bothers me.

Hi. I am not quite sure what you mean by idiosyncratic speech. Do you have an issue with pronunciation, or misuse of the word? I am a parent and retired teacher. Often, especially as an adult, speech is our way of communicating. In our adult world, speech can make the difference in others perception of our knowledge, and ability to communicate successfully. Do you have resources so you can get educated opinions? It may just be practice on your part. Many times just reading a book gives me insight into how speech is used. Or listen to how language is used in speeches.. I hope this info gives you some guidance.
