Eating Habits
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son is almost three and nonverbal. He has not ate solid foods since he was one and a half. He only drinks from a bottle just milk but I do mix yogurts in them when I can get him to drink it. He also drinks PediaSure. His iron levels are good and he is healthy no problem with weight loss, sleep well and is active. I'm currently on a waiting list to get a diagnosis. He is fearful of anything coming near his mouth he doesn't put toys in his mouth, but he also doesn't allow us to brush his teeth… read more

What kind of 'Eater' is he?
a 'Sweetie' who likes sugary foods.
a 'Blan' who does not like a lot of flavor in their food.
a 'Salty' who likes the Bitter taste.
Find out what his preference is and build on that.

Hi, Reagan! Maybe you could add water into your son's milk in between meals, just to get to include water somehow. I brush my three year old daughter's teeth with a clean cloth, I add her safe to consume toothpaste and brush her gums and teeth while I sing to her.

Reagan, I figured you did, but wanted to share, maybe someone could use the information. That's a good idea, super food powder, I may try that method for my daughter Janelle. You know down the line we are start to get creative with our decisions to help support our love ones. Just wanted to say you're doing an awesome job! We take it one day at a time.

Also I wanted to add that, I just ran out, but I also put like a super food powder for kids. There's 30 different greens and fruits and veggies in each serving. It's chocolate but I usually have to split the serving in half because if he tastes it he'll refuse to drink it.
