My Son Is Supposed To Be Getting His Blood Drawn Today.... Any Advice Would Be Appreciated.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

HELLO, I HOPE EVERYONE IS DOING WELL. My son is 8, mostly non-verbal, hates doctors and fights them off, they know he's Autistic at the lab, he's supposed to get his blood drawn every three-6 months to test liver and kidney levels since he takes Depakote, but they are never able to get blood from him, even with Ativan given to him an hour before, he won't even let them put a blood pressure cuff on him! Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I definitely would look for a children's hospital too. At least at the current place they are familiar with him and he knows the place. If you're able to, maybe offer for him to pick something out at the dollar store by showing him a picture of a dollar store.

If he has a comfort toy to bring or maybe bring one of his favorite treats to have afterwards. I hope it goes as well as possible.

We always have to schedule my son's blood work at the lab at the children's hospital in our area to get a blood draw on him. He also hates doctors and fights them.
