Why Does My Daughter Get Overwhelmed And Cry When I Tell Her Of Things Ahead Of Time?

I feel anxiety just thinking about being told i will be tested for a problem with my handwriting! She is worrying, and that’s not a thing someone can just stop. Maybe it would help to tell her you understand, maybe try to tell her things in a more light-hearted way - “We’re going to get you some help with your handwriting - the lady seems really nice”, and maybe don’t tell her too far in advance. Getting tested, evaluated, assessed, etc is all a lot of pressure for special needs kids, on top of the rest of their lives and challenges. I want to give her a hug bc I get anxiety too! 🍀

She also gets anxious when I ask her to pick up things, put away her dishes, clean her room, or do her homework. Or when I do anything to correct her, like tell her to work on writing her u and 4.

I have read some autistics struggle with anxiety. You may want to speak with her pediatrician. Hang in there, kiddo!
