My 5 year old son has difficulty transitioning from activities or places. He will normally begin crying or at times, throw a tantrum.
When my son was younger, he was the same way. We used a visual schedule and PECS so he knew what to expect. If he wasn’t ready to do something, leave, eat, etc., I set a timer and give a verbal warning/cue. “In five minutes, we will clean up.” It helps to set a timer.

A 10 to 15 minutes break between events would benefit him.
